As just a handful of the 10.1 million viewers who tuned in for the first episode’s live broadcast, our office’s Game of Thrones fans have gleaned some wisdom from the hit show – just in time for our busiest week of the month. Winter may be coming, but so is Auto Week.
Its start, not quite as highly-anticipated as the GoT premiere, is marked by the day automotive incentives drop. Once dealerships get their monthly promotions, they pass them along to us and the clock starts ticking.
The following battle tactics help our favorite characters fare in the Seven Kingdoms – and since management frowns on swords in the office, we tailored each to make it agency friendly.
1. Assemble a Strong Team.
“When the snow falls and the white wind blows, a lone wolf dies but the pack survives.” –Eddard Stark
Although life itself isn’t necessarily hanging in the balance, the same principle applies. On the battlefield of Auto Week, having a strong team beside you in the trenches is essential. From account management to creative execution, each M2 member knows that collaboration is our best wartime strategy.
2. Plan Ahead.
“What we don’t know is what usually gets us killed.” –Petyr Baelish
Managing Auto Week traffic is a demanding job – and there’s not a single orange cone or whistle involved. We do our best to look ahead and prioritize, giving each department a heads up on what to expect.
3. Embrace the Madness.
“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder, and the climb is all there is.” –Petyr Baelish
Auto Week is nothing if not chaotic. We rely on large doses of caffeine, email chains of hilarious memes and yummy snacks for sustenance. We do whatever it takes to conquer tight turn-arounds – including the consumption of the occasional Twinkie from the seemingly-endless office stash.
4. Commit to Victory.
“When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.” –Cersei Lannister
The marketing game is similar. Again, minus the death part. What we mean is this: When it comes to delivering for our clients, there’s no “almost.” But short of a dragon attack or King’s Landing rebellion, we won’t surrender to any deadline or demanding client.
5. Fuel Your Passion.
“I do know some things, I know I love you. I know you love me.” –Jon Snow
Don’t worry, we’re not going to get all sappy on you. Game of Thrones isn’t without its romance, but there are enough rolling heads to remind us that it’s no sequel of The Notebook. That being said, all of us here at M2 are passionate about creating a killer product, about finding innovative solutions, about forging strong relationships with our clients. We know we’ve got a good thing going and we’re grateful to spend each day doing what we love.
Five battle tactics and not a single spoiler! (Mostly because fervent Game of Thrones fans are the last folks we’d want to challenge to a duel.)
Whether you’re heading into a hectic work week or preparing for a violent battle against the Wildlings, these 5 tactics will ensure you come out on top.
