Any fashionista will tell you that a little style refresh goes a long way. Whether we’re talking catwalks or commercials, these words of wisdom ring true. Here at Motivated Marketing, we know the importance of keeping a brand’s ads updated and engaging while staying true to the identity that’s been established – and we model this method for our clients.

One of them, Plugs Appliance Center, felt it was time to try some new creative on for size. They tasked us with crafting new concepts that would put a fresh spin on their message. Our Creative Team, always ready for a challenge, got right to work.

As the area’s leader in the home appliance business, Plugs offers the kind of huge selection, low prices and friendly, local service that the big box stores can’t beat. Our copywriter began brainstorming different ways to showcase the brand’s core values, ultimately deciding that spots centered around family life would be the best way to relate to viewers.

Three concepts were born, each injecting a little family-friendly fun into Plugs’ longtime messaging. Once the scripts were complete, one of our graphic designers illustrated a few scenes by hand. These sketches were scanned and paired with a voiceover, creating a moving storyboard known as an animatic.

We’ve discovered that it’s much easier for clients to envision a finished product once the scripts have been brought to life this way, and the Plugs team was no exception. They decided to shoot 2 versions of each of the 3 concepts, totaling 6 months of new TV creative.  With a shoot date on the calendar, we finalized scripts, booked talent and bought props.
